After phase I, II and III have been fulfilled on the HCG Diet Protocol at The Natural Path, it is time to find that maintenance diet that you will follow 80-90% of the time in your life. If we do not put ourselves on some type of healthy, non-deprivational eatig regimen it can simply become a free for all in our lives in regards to food. We recommend this maintenance protocol be similar to phase III. Then, 10% + of the time you go out and splurge and partake in foods that are not a part of your daily health plan.
Green is the color that we recommend a great deal of your food be!! Green leafy vegetables hold an abundance of vitamins, minerals, anti-inflammatory agents as well as alkalizing properties. If we could get 5-12 servings of fruits and vegetables daily that would be ideal! Unfortunately, our soil today is not as rich in nutrients as it once was. Due to this sad set of statistics, our vegetables do not have quite the same amount of nutrients that they once had. A good quality “green drink” powder can be a simple way to add benefit to your diet. We LOVE vitamineral greens by health force nutrition, raw reserve by amazing grass and more greens by purium. These three powdered green drinks are a great way to add some life to your smoothies and even mixed in water or unsweetened almond milk.

Post HCG Diet, we recommend the bulk of your diet be from plant based foods! The phytochemicals found in green foods are so important to a healthy body. There is some great research out there on phytochemicals out there and here are a few scientifically researched findings:
- Glucoraphanin in broccoli sprouts reduces inflammation in the body and decreases stress on the heart and kidneys. They have also been shown to reduce blood pressure.
- Collard greens, bok choy, kale, cabbage and broccoli all have a constituent called isothicyanates that inhibit cancer cells.These foods also contain dithiolthiones which block a carcinogen from getting to the DNA of cells
- Colorful carotenoids found in yellow pepper, carrots and squash slow the development of cancer cells.
- Macular degenration in the eye can be slowed down with Luteins. These are found in broccoli, kale and spinach.
The Benefit of Green Drinks to Your Diet after HCG Diet
Green drinks have been shown to bring inflammation down in the body. Inflammation is at the root of most disease processes. Green drinks help the body to deal with free radicals. The nutrients in these drinks can protect us from toxins. Add one serving of green drink to your life daily along with 5-10 servings of fruits and vegetables with a moderate amount of protein and you will be shining bright after the HCG Diet
