Bio-Identical Hormone Pellet Therapy
What is bio-identical Hormone Pellet Therapy and how does it work?
Bio-identical hormone pellets are a very effective way to deliver hormones in both men and women. This method of hormone replacement has been used with excellent results since the 1930’s. These “tic tac” sized pellets are uniquely dosed wth a hormone prescription that is uniquely tailored for you. The pellets are placed under the skin via a minor surgical procedure. Bio-identical hormone pellets consistently release small physiologic doses of bio-identical hormones. In our practice, we have seen this method to have the best results.
How are bio-identical hormone pellets implanted?
The bio-identical hormone pellets are easily placed under the skin via a small minor surgical procedure. This procedure is virtually pain-free.
Why patients prefer Bio-Identical Hormone Pellets?
Many patients prefer hormone pellets over hormone injections, creams & gels as the pellets last several months and the hormone delivery is very consistent. Over time, the hormone pellet slowly dissolves under the skin and releases a consistent amount of hormone. For many patients, it is more convenient to come to the office for the bio-identical hormone implant procedure than it is to take a daily cream/gel or receive a weekly injection.
Who is a Candidate for Bio-Identical Testosterone Pellet Implantation?
After reviewing lab work as well as symptoms, we will decide if you are a good candidate for this therapy. Pellet testosterone replacement therapy is best for men and women who prefer the consistency and convenience in their bio-identical hormone treatment. Testosterone pellet therapy lasts 3-5 months in women and 5-6 months in men. The dosage of the testosterone pellet is based on lab results and the goal is to use what is needed to restore hormone balance.
Why is it that Estrogen (estradiol) is not recommended in pellet therapy for women?
It has been shown that many peri/menopausal symptoms are relieved with continuous testosterone alone. Testosterone delivered by hormone pellet implant is an extremely effective therapy for peri/menopausal symptoms without the negative side effects of estrogen.
What are the health benefits of using testosterone pellets?
Is Bio-Identical Hormone Pellet Therapy safe?
We have found this form of hormone replacement to be extremely safe. Even with a history of breast cancer or prostate cancer studies show that testosterone can be used safely and effectively.
