What is the HCG Diet?

HCG "Human Chorionic Gonadotropin"( HCG) is a natural protein hormone created by the placenta of a pregnant woman. The hormone is made by chorionic cells in the part of the placenta that is nurturing the growing fetus. This hormone is known to stimulate the gonads similar to many of the hormones made in the brain by the pituitary gland. Although this hormone has not been identified in men, we know that men have receptors for HCG and that it is very helpful in testosterone optimization therapy. 

HCG Diet & Weight Loss - The Basic Diet Plan

Dr. Simeon's original HCG Diet program is quite simple.The HCG dietconsists of an HCG injection and a total of 500 calories a day. With this program, one can expect to lose 1/2 -2 lbs. per day. Everybody is very different and results will vary from individual to individual.Many people feel that it is not safe to consume this few calories.  In the beginning, we were skeptical of that too.  The truth is that you mobilize excess calories from fat and very few patients complain of hunger while on the very low calorie diet portion of the HCG diet.  While taking the injections, the HGC as part of the HCG Diet  is known to mobilizes the fat and burns that fat for energy.  Due to the fact that you maintain a low 500 calorie diet and have little to no fat consumption, the body uses the mobilized fat stores for energy.

The beginning of the HCG Diet

During the first two days, you "load" your body with high fat "healthyish"  foods i.e. macadamia nuts, cashews, nut butters, organic ice cream, coconut bliss ice cream, organic dairy products, olives, etc.  If the loading is not done correctly patients will experience more hunger in the first week!

The next phase of the HCG Diet

After the two day "loading phase" you begin the 500 calorie diet or the HCG Diet Phase II

In this part of the HCG Diet, the HCG injection is taken in the a.m.; only coffee, water and tea is allowed for breakfast. No food is taken at this time.
Lunch - 100 grams or 3.5 ounces of the allowed meats and fish; one vegetable only of the allowed vegetables (do not mix vegetables); You can also have one piece of the allowed fruits on the HCG Diet.
Dinner - same as lunch but always vary your choice of protein, vegetable and fruitTry having your fruit† between meals for snacks instead of with lunch & dinner. This will give you four meals a day on the HCG Diet & weight loss plan.
