Loading on the HCG Diet Program


The first phase of the HCG Diet is known as the loading phase. This is a very important part of the program and lasts for 24-72 hours (2-3 days). During this time, the patient begins to take their daily injections of HCG and follows the loading diet. The loading phase, when done correctly helps to alleviate hunger during the first of the program. Clinically, I have seen how easy the transition can be from phase I to phase II on the HCG Diet Program.


An Example Load Day on the HCG Diet

The loading days of the HCG Diet can have a broad variety of food consumption. I suggest that patients focus on healthy, high fat foods such as full fat organic dairy products (if the patient is not sensitive or allergic to dairy), avocados, raw/organic nuts chewed well; organic sausage, olives, etc. With that being said, it is also a nice time for patients to indulge in foods that they might miss while they are embarking on a new journey of diet and lifestyle changes.

One might wake up and have full, fat Greek yogurt for breakfast with a couple of eggs, 1 cup of raw/organic nuts for a snack, salad with avocado/bacon/organic cheese and a nice healthy oil based salad dressing for lunch; chips and guacamole for an afternoon snack; sausage and lamb for dinner with avocado and sour lcream; some organic ice cream or coconut oil based ice cream for dessert. Feel free to add 1-3 tbsp of coconut oil to your diet throughout the day.


What is the Best Way to Eat on the Loading Phase

I always recommend that patients listen to their bodies. Many people think that on loading days it is a great time to gorge and eat until they are uncomfortably stuffed. I prefer that patients eat in a way that is functional for their digestion. If you overeat, it is easy to not feel well and then your body has to work really hard to digest your stomach full of fatty food. I recommend that patients eat until they are full and during the loading phase to not let yourself get hungry. A few pounds may be gained but that is not unusual at all. The loading phase of the HCG Diet primes the body by filling fat stores as the HCG is being titrated to a level in the body to stimulate fat turn over on phase II.
